<br /> Cheri Garofani, 3303 Oak Knoll Drive, said if trees are cut down they should be replaced <br /> with trees of equal size, and if trees are deemed problems they should be trimmed not cut <br /> down. <br /> Debbi Garofani, 3303 Oak Knoll Drive, spoke very emotionally about the importance of <br /> trees. <br /> All the Council Members expressed their unhappiness at the removal of any trees; <br /> acknowledged how very important trees are to people, the environment and the City; asked <br /> staff to be more aware and more sensitive to how important an issue this is to Redwood <br /> City residents; directed staff to prepare a report on this issue; and advised that the Council <br /> is the appropriate decision-maker on any matter having to do with tree removal. <br /> MEMO 8/13/96 <br /> Mayor Hartnett summed up the Council's direction to staff: <br /> . Absent a genuine and imminent emergency with danger to life or property, there will <br /> be no more cutting oftrees; <br /> . Staff is to prepare a detailed report on this matter and present it to Council and Gerry <br /> Benesch, who will be the contact person for the petitioners; <br /> . Staff is to provide an opportunity for input from the community regarding <br /> recommendations in the report; <br /> .
