Chairperson Piulle thanked staff, Corinne Centeno, Julie Hannon and Denise <br /> Monroe. <br /> Council Members complimented the Commissioners on their prudent use of funds, their <br /> individual efforts in the community, their focus on children, seniors and families, and their <br /> recognition by the San Mateo County Arts Council as a leader in promoting the arts on the <br /> Peninsula. <br /> B. Fair Oaks Community Center Advisory Board by Bonnie Miller, Chairperson; <br /> REPORT: Update on 1995-96 Plan, Work Plan for 1996-97 <br /> Chairperson Miller introduced her fellow Board Member Dempsey and thanked him for <br /> being so proactive and effective in his short tenure on the Board. Chairperson Miller <br /> updated the Council on the 1995-96 Plan, and described the Board's focus on providing <br /> food to those in need, and acquiring disaster and earthquake training, services and materials <br /> in Spanish. Chairperson Miller described the Board's fund raising activities and the <br /> planned needs assessment survey the Board will conduct next year. <br /> Board Member Dempsey thanked St. Vincent de Paul, Safeway, Trader Joe's and Second <br /> - Harvest Food Bank for their assistance. <br /> Council Members thanked the Board Members for being so proactive on such important <br /> issues in our community. <br /> C. Park and Recreation Commission by Robert Slusser, Commissioner; <br /> REPORT: Chairperson TrusceIli, September 30,1996 <br /> Commissioner Slusser described the Commission's fund raising activities and said the <br /> Commission planned to address the requests from dog owners for a place to exercise their <br /> pets in light of the City's policy to prohibit dogs from City Parks. He advised that the <br /> Commission will consider issues that it can address and resolve without staff assistance, <br /> and will review the current Parks and Recreation fee structure and make recommendations <br /> to Council. Commissioner Slusser said the Commission wanted to renew the Annual <br /> Council Park Tour, and described the Commission's commitment to balance needs and <br /> capabilities. <br /> Council Members complimented the Commission for leading the way in entrepreneurship, <br /> and agreed with Commissioner Slusser that with volunteers the possibilities are unlimited. <br /> '-- <br /> ADJOURNED REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 7,1996 <br /> MINUTES MINUTE BOOK NO.54 PAGE 4 <br /> Page No. 516 <br />
