r. t • , <br /> • , <br /> of placing, maintaining or using any portion of said sign to the <br /> owner or occupant of the premises on which it is located. <br /> Section 7 .4 For purposes of this article the following <br /> terms shall have the meanings hereinafter set forth: <br /> (a) Freeway: Shall mean a highway in respect to which <br /> the owners of abutting lands have no right or ease- <br /> ment of access to or from their abutting lands or <br /> in respect to which such owners have only li.mited <br /> or restricted right of easement of access and which <br /> is declared to be such in compliance with the Streets <br /> and Highways Code of the State of California . <br /> (b) Main Traveled Roadway: Shall mean that portion of <br /> a freeway, including interchange roadways connecting <br /> one freeway with another, �•rhich is designed for the <br /> movement of large volumes of vehicular traffic, <br /> efficiently and safely at high speed, but not <br /> including frontage roadways, landscaped areas, or <br /> ingress or egress ramps connecting the freeway with <br /> other streets. <br /> (c) Landscaped Freeway: The term " landscaped freeway" <br /> shall be deemed to me�:n a section or sections of a <br /> freeway which is nov,�, or hereafter may be, improved <br /> by the planting of at least on one side of the free- <br /> wa.y right of way lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers or <br /> other ornamental vegetation which shall require <br /> reasonable maintenance . Planting designated by the <br /> Division of Highways as being for the purpose of <br /> soil erosion control, traffic safety requirements, <br /> reduction of fire hazards, or traffic noise abatement, <br /> shall not change the character of a freeway to a <br /> landscaped freeway. <br /> Section 7 .5 Nothing in this article shall affect any <br /> other provision of this ordinance which imposes greater res- <br /> trictions or limitations on the placing of signs, nor shall <br /> anything in this article be deemed to exclude or exempt any <br /> person from obtaining any permit, licer_se, or consent to the <br /> placing of any sign which may be otherwise required. <br /> -22- <br /> (Rev.) <br />
