REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />August 24, 2015 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance-2014-2015 Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, accept the 2014-2015 Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project and authorize <br />the release of retention according to City procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On October 20, 2014, Council awarded the construction contract for the “2014–2015 <br />Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project” to Casey Construction, Inc., of Emerald Hills, <br />California. This project included the replacement and installation of approximately 9,483 <br />lineal feet of 6-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch vitrified clay pipe (VCP) sewer main with new 8- <br />inch, and 10-inch polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC), 42 sanitary sewer manholes and 227 <br />sanitary sewer laterals by using open cut method, trench excavation, backfilling and <br />compaction, pavement restoration and other associated work. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Project construction commenced in December 2014 and achieved substantial <br />completion in May 2015. Final walkthrough was conducted with Public Works <br />Department staff and punch list items were completed by the end of June 2015. The <br />project was successfully completed in accordance with the plans and specifications <br />and within the timeframe allowed by contract. The final contract amount is <br />$2,092,730.56 which is 0.106 % lower than the initially awarded contract amount. <br />Adjustments in bid quantities (additions and deletions) and minor additional/change <br />order work resulted to a deductive change order amounting to $2,215.44. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept the project and/or authorize the release of retention <br />which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and the public <br />contracting code. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Sufficient funding for this construction contract was previously approved as Sewer Fund <br />Capital Projects – Collection System Replacement Program. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />6.2.B. - Page 1
