There is no other <br />( 2 place in Redwood City that this project could be <br /> 3 built. <br /> 4 So four years ago when we bought our house, <br /> 5 we were - - my wife and I were at a personal cross <br /> 6 roads, we actually went out to Elk Grove and we <br /> 7 looked, and we saw that you could buy a house for <br /> 8 half the price and get twice the house. It was a <br /> 9 tough decision that we struggled with, whether we <br /> 10 were going to stay in the community where we grew <br /> 11 up -- we both grew up on the Peninsula - - or move <br /> 12 and start a brand-new life somewhere else. <br /> 13 As many of you know, we had a mayor of San <br />\ <br /> 14 Carlos who stepped down from his seat on the <br /> 15 council, he was about my a"ge, and moved out to the <br /> 16 central valley so he could own a house. <br /> 17 I've heard it said that we don't need a big <br /> 18 project like this, all we can do is throw some <br /> 19 money and provide government subsidies to make more <br /> 20 affordable housing.
