<br /> REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 5-24-04 <br /> 1 lucky I would have been as a former Mayor of the <br />i 2 city to have a project like this presented to us at <br /> 3 that time. <br /> 4 And I just have to go back to that, I have <br /> 5 to congratulate the staff and the city Council for <br /> 6 bringing our City to where it is today, that we <br /> \ <br /> ) <br /> 7 would even have a developer that's willing to <br /> 8 invest a billion dollars in our community. <br /> 9 In 1995 when I was on the city Council, I <br /> 10 would have thought somebody was telling me it was a <br /> 11 practical joke, because there wouldn't have been <br /> 12 anybody in our community that would want to come in <br /> 13 and invest that kind of money and vision in Redwood <br />I, <br /> 14 City. We weren't prepared. You are now, and - - <br /> 15 and I just congratulate you for getting there. <br /> 16 People so - - tonight, have just - - in one <br /> 17 sense I want to apologize to some of the viewers, <br /> 18 that think - - some of the speakers tonight just <br /> 19 were a little bit rude, and -- and I think <br /> 20 disrespectful, and that's not who Redwood City is. <br /> 21 I think we're a community built of great folks that <br /> 22 come together who don't necessarily agree, I think <br /> 23 that's healthy. But, say, you know, here are my <br /> 24 issues and here's some alternatives, and here's <br /> 25 what I think happens.
