I am concerned about Marina <br /> 4 Shores' development and size in relationship to its <br /> 5 proximity to Bair Island and to the Whipple 101 <br /> 6 interchange. The smart growth values in forming <br /> 7 the Precise Plan and the process that created it <br /> 8 are laudable. However, this project is not <br /> 9 transit-oriented, a core goal in smart growth <br /> 10 development. <br /> 11 Given the project's density, I believe that <br /> 12 this criterion should be considered of equal <br /> 13 importance to other criteria. Yes, it's dense, but <br />( <br /> 14 it is also not transit-oriented under any smart <br /> 15 growth evaluation. <br /> 16 The need for housing, especially affordable <br /> 17 nousing in Redwood City is real, however, it does <br /> 18 not have to all be built in one place. <br /> 19 In addition, only a small number, <br /> 20 approximately 20 units on this site would be sold <br /> 21 as affordable housing. An insignificant impact on <br /> 22 the needs of this community. <br /> 23 It is especially true, given the scope of <br /> 24 the project and its impacts.
