REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 5-24-04
industry today.
( 2 There are a number of our members from
Redwood City here today and I will be speaking on
their behalf.
The Building Trades Council is in support
of the Marina Shores Village project. After years
of community and City s'taff input, we believe
Glenborough-Pauls has arrived at an extraordinary
project.
In addition to supplying sorely needed
housing units to employees who want to live and
work in San Mateo county, 15 percent of which will
be below market rate units, this project will have
(
restaurants, retail shops, a minimum of 60 boat
slips, public pedestrian and bicycle paths close to
the waterfront, hotel and a community park.
Adding to the benefits I just mentioned,
Glenborough-Pauls also made a commitment to the
Building Trades Council that our highly skilled,
decently paid construction workers receiving
quality healthcare and pension benefits will be
employed to build this project.
This project represents hundreds and
hundreds of jobs for our members who live in
Redwood City and throughout San Mateo county.
