GEOLOGY AND SOILS – <br />Would the project: <br />Potentially <br />Significant <br />Impact <br />Less Than <br />Significant <br />With <br />Mitigation <br />Incorporated <br />Less Than <br />Significant <br />Impact <br />No <br />Impact <br />d) Be located on expansive soil, as defined in Table 18-1-B <br />of the Uniform Building Code (1994), creating substantial <br />risks to life or property? <br />    <br />e) Have soils incapable of adequately supporting the use of <br />septic tanks or alternative waste water disposal systems <br />where sewers are not available for the disposal of waste <br />water? <br />    <br /> <br /> <br />Documentation: <br />The project would not increase exposure for people or structures to potential adverse effects to strong seismic activity, rupture <br />of a known earthquake fault, or landslides. The LII area is not known to exist on either unstable soil or expansive soil and the <br />proposed changes to the LII zoning district are primarily minor land use related, which will not result in soil erosion. <br /> <br />The LII area is set in an urbanized area with an existing sewers system for the disposal of waste water and would not require <br />septic tanks or alternative waste water disposal. <br /> <br />Although the project area is located in an area documented for potential of liquefaction as shown in Attachment 1, the <br />standards of the Universal Building Code, California Building Code, and California Residential Code have seismic code <br />requirements, which will continue to be required for any development in the area. The existing requirements are consistent with <br />established practices and reduce seismic risk to acceptable levels. The project would not make any changes to these <br />requirements. <br />8.C. - Page 26
