SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> <br /> A. Recognition of Jim Bigelow - Jeffrey Gee, Mayor – <br /> <br />Mayor Gee presented a proclamation to Mr. Bigelow for his distinguished service to San <br />Mateo County and the aviation of the United States of America. Mr. Bigelow’s family <br />members were present and Mr. Bigelow offered some stories and appreciation for the <br />proclamation. <br /> <br /> B. Recognition of Downtown Events T-Shirt Design Winner Betsy Snow - <br />Beth Mostovoy and Pamela Estes, Parks and Arts Foundation <br /> <br />Mayor Gee invited Beth Mostovoy with Arts in RWC and Pamela Estes with Parks <br />Foundation who debuted the new T-Shirt design and announced the winner/designer <br />Betsy Snow who was present with her son Trevor who modeled the T-Shirts. Ms. Estes <br />provided details about the selection. <br /> <br />6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> <br />Diana Reddy, resident and housing advocate, spoke about certain projects and her <br />focus on getting more affordable housing units in Redwood City. She does not believe <br />that the housing crisis is improving and commented on the imbalance between housing <br />and jobs. She asks that this be part of the Redwood City Benefits Program and she <br />would like affordable units in developers’ projects. <br /> <br />Kristen Petersen spoke about a recent protest at Whole Foods and opined that it was <br />quiet and peaceful and she was surprised that protesters were given written warnings <br />and were asked to leave. She commented on the legality, freedom of speech and on <br />the Municipal code. <br /> <br />Dr. Bell spoke to the comments made by Ms. Reddy and highlighted the various <br />housing programs that the City has implemented. He provided information on what <br />DoStart has given to the City in financial terms to subsidize other housing programs. He <br />also spoke about the Fire Safety First program <br /> <br />7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL: Waive reading of the consent calendar and the full text of ordinances <br />and resolutions, and approve the Consent Calendar items. <br /> <br />Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one <br />motion and one vote. <br /> <br />M/S Aguirre/Seybert to approve the Consent Calendar excluding item 7.2 E. Motion <br />carries unanimously by electronic vote. <br /> <br />M/S Pierce/Aguirre to adopt agenda item 7.2 E. Motion carries 4-0 with Council <br />Members Gee, Seybert and Foust recused and abstaining. <br /> <br /> 1. Section - Motion(s) <br /> <br />6.1.C. - Page 3
