________________________________________________________________________________________________ <br />JOINT CITY COUNCIL/SUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD/ June 8, 2015 <br />PUBLIC FINANCING AUTHORITY MEETING MINUTES PAGE 10 <br /> RESOLUTION No. 15418 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />IMPLEMENTING MANDATORY WATER USE RESTRICTIONS IN COMPLIANCE <br />WITH STATE WATER RESOURCES CONTROL BOARD’S MAY 5, 2015 <br />EMERGENCY DROUGHT REGULATIONS <br /> <br />Mr. Chinakotla, Public Works Director, provided a report (presentation on file) explaining <br />all the outreach done to date on drought regulations. He said that voluntarily the <br />community has done a 12% water consumption reduction. He explained the Governor’s <br />mandate was for 8%. Mr. Chinnakotla explained the various measures that need to be <br />followed by residents as the new regulations. He added detail on the fines for repeat <br />violators. He expanded on what staff has been done to inform the community and is <br />excited that residents have been responsive. He provided details on special programs <br />that Public Works is implementing such as using Smart Meters for the top 100 water <br />users. He added that they are focused on increasing the recycled water use. <br /> <br />Mayor Gee and various Council Members were very appreciative of the presentation <br />and all Redwood City is doing. Mayor Gee spoke about on site gray water reclamation <br />and how this might be the next wave. <br /> <br />M/S Foust/Pierce to adopt the resolution. Motion carried unanimously by electronic <br />vote. <br /> <br />11. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended <br /> <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> <br />Council Member Seybert said that at the last Board meeting of the Silicon Valley <br />Clean Water the CEQA process is moving forward regarding the replacement of <br />the force main, and the most preferred option is a tunneling option. This <br />approach has been received well by the Redwood Shores Community. He <br />thanked Public Works for presenting this to the Utilities Committee. <br /> <br />Council Member Bain said he attended the first meeting of the Community <br />Activity Energy was very well attended and it was a good review of why this is <br />important and what the work plan will be. He attended the concert organized by <br />Steve Penna and friend and 1,000 people were in attendance and 12,000 were <br />raised towards the concerts downtown. He also attended the grand opening of <br />the Dog Agility Park and it was a great success and people seem to be very <br />happy that this is coming to fruition. <br /> <br />Council Member Pierce attended the bucket brigade opening night to collect <br />funds for the downtown concerns. She said all are welcome to volunteer. <br /> <br />Council Member Aguirre said that she and Vice Mayor Foust welcomed a special <br />group of ladies who want to bring awareness towards certain diseases.
