REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council From the City Manager September 28, 2015 SUBJECT Final Acceptance – 2014-2015 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project RECOMMENDATION By motion, accept the 2014-2015 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project and authorize the release of retention according to City procedures. BACKGROUND On February 23, 2015, Council awarded the construction contract for the “2014–2015 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project” to K.J. Woods Construction, Inc., of San Francisco, California for a price of $928,800.00. The project scope included rehabilitation of approximately 6,160 linear feet of existing 6-inch and 8-inch sanitary sewer main, rehabilitation of 37 existing sanitary sewer manholes and replacement of 126 existing sanitary sewer laterals, pavement restoration and other associated work. ANALYSIS Project construction commenced in May 4, 2015 and achieved final completion in August 2015. Final walkthrough was conducted with PWS staff and punch list items were completed by the first week of September 2015. The project was successfully completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and within the timeframe allowed by contract. The final contract amount is $899,452.56 which is 3.16% lower than the initially awarded contract amount. Adjustments in bid quantities (additions and deletions) resulted to a deductive change order amounting to $29,347.44 ALTERNATIVES Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and public contracting code. FISCAL IMPACT Sufficient funding for the work of this contract was previously appropriated as Sewer Fund Capital Projects – Sewer Rehab Program. 6.2.A. - Page 1
