Improved bikeways are pro- <br /> vided at the Whipple Avenue and Woodside Road bridges, the Maple <br /> I Street bridge, and beneath US 101 as part of a Redwood Creek trail <br /> connection. <br /> <br /> I Urban Design and Public Spaces. The area designated for residen- <br /> tial use is a 10-15 minute walk from end to end. Housing units are <br /> oriented to create attractive, pedestrian-oriented public spaces, <br /> streets, paseos, and waterfront walkways. The "scenic entrance <br /> ..., drive" and Bair Island Road function as boulevard streets, faced by <br /> I new residential buildings and incorporating attractive walks, bike <br /> ways, lighting, and street trees. <br /> I Four peninsulas, or "fingers," shaped by water ways extend east <br /> I from Bair Island Road. Three contain water-oriented residential de- <br /> velopment and one consists of the PG&E power lines and open space Traffic calming measures and bike lanes are recommended for <br /> I in the right-of-way below.
