Council expressed its support for the cooperative efforts of San Mateo County and San
Mateo cities, through C/CAG.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Ron Guglielmone, General Services, described the efforts of street and sewer maintenance
employees last summer performing preventative maintenance, and the storm water control
efforts during the January 1995, storms; and, how the money taken from other accounts to
pay for these efforts will have long range deleterious effects. Mr. Guglielmone
encouraged Council to restore the funds used to implement the NPDES requirements to
their original accounts to encourage proactive programs to prevent future maintenance
problems.
C. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Vice Mayor Hartnett reported on the complaints received two weeks ago from Redwood
Shores residents regarding pile driving noises late in the evening and on weekends due to
construction on Oracle Corporation property. After City staff contacted Oracle they
immediately altered their construction schedule dropping Sundays and reducing the
weekday evening hours to no later than 7:00 P.M. Mayor Gasparini suggested a meeting
be held with Oracle to discuss the matter further. Last Friday at that meeting with the
Mayor, Vice Mayor, City Manager, Community Development Director, and the Senior
Vice President of Oracle and their Director of Real Estate, community and staff concerns
were fully discussed. Oracle readily agreed to cancel the pile-driving that Saturday, and
work with Redwood Shores residents to establish a pile-driving schedule that would
complete that construction phase as soon as possible, and still meet the community's
needs. On behalf of the Council, Vice Mayor Hartnett thanked the Oracle Corporation for
being so cooperative, so responsive to the community, and for taking their role as a
responsible corporate citizen so seriously.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MINUTE BOOK NO. 53
Special Council Study Session Minutes Page No. 057
February 6, 1995
Page 4
