Presentation of Proclamation declaring Historic Preservation Week in Redwood City, <br /> May 14-20, 1995. <br /> Mayor Gasparini presented the Proclamation to Historic Resources Advisory <br /> Committee Chairman Rolandelli who gave Council an update of some of the activities <br /> highlighting Historic Preservation Week, including the banner across Broadway, events at <br /> Sequoia High School, local churches, the Art Center, tours of Lathrop House and the Fox <br /> Theatre, and a twilight tour of Union Cemetery on May 13, to name just a few. <br /> C. Presentation of Proclamation declaring Optimist Day of Non-Violence, May 13, 1995. <br /> Mayor Gasparini presented the Proclamation to Steve Penna representing the Optimists <br /> of Redwood City who thanked the Council for its support, and invited everyone to attend <br /> the May 13, 1995, Optimist's Fair at Mervyn's. <br /> 5. PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT: REVENUE <br /> REPORT FOR DROP-IN ACTIVITIES AT THE NEW RED MORTON COMMUNITY <br /> CENTER <br /> REPORT: Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director, May 1, 1995 <br /> Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Griffiths introduced Recreation <br /> Supervisor Hannon and Recreation Center Supervisor Knight who presented the staff <br /> report and described the proposed activities and the user's fees being suggested to offset <br /> operating costs at the new Red Morton Community Center. <br /> In response to Council Member's questions, Supervisors Hannon and Knight discussed <br /> the survey; the four categories of activities and fees; the rationale behind the specific drop- <br /> in activities to be offered, fees and cost differential between resident and non-resident fees; <br /> how best to set fees for residents of Redwood City's unincorporated areas; the preference <br /> for an electronic bar code system, rather than a punch card system; the FY 95-96 and FY <br /> 96-97 budget timelines and impacts; the lack of time for the Park and Recreation <br /> Commission to thoroughly review the revenue plan; the projected cost recovery; and the <br /> expectation of a February or March, 1996, opening. <br /> 6.
