<br /> In response to a question from Mayor Gasparini, Housing Coordinator Jones- <br /> Thomas, stated that the proposal from the Jean Weingarten School could not be <br /> considered because federal law requires that the request be completed prior to the work <br /> being done. <br /> Jack Greenalch, Wellesley Crescent, Coordinator of Economic Development and <br /> Liaison to Redevelopment Agencies in South San Mateo County spoke about Canada <br /> College's plan to have a Small Business Development and Training Center located at <br /> the corner of Main and Marshall Street in Redwood City. <br /> 2) Open Public Hearing <br /> Mayor Gasparini opened the Public Hearing at 7:35 p.m. <br /> The following people spoke about Community Development Block Grants. <br /> Barbara Kalt, Menlo Park representing Peninsula Volunteers Rosener House spoke <br /> about the services provided to Redwood City residents. <br /> Councilman Sanfilipo arrived at 7:45 p.m. <br /> Karen Carrera, Valencia Street, San Francisco and Fair Oaks Community Center, <br /> Middlefield Road, Redwood City representing La Raza Centro Legal Inc. thanked the <br /> Council for their support last year. Ms. Carrera described the services offered at five <br /> offices located in San Mateo County and requested additional funding in the amount <br /> of $5,000.00. <br /> MEMO 5/16/95 <br /> Cameron Bohren, Belmont, Center for the Independence of the Disabled (CID) <br /> thanked the Council for previous funding and discussed the program. Ms. Bohren <br /> requested an additional $500.00 to assist people on the waiting list for the housing <br /> accessibility modifications program which enables people to live independently. <br /> MEMO 5/16/95 <br /> Jack Greenalch, Wellesley Crescent commended staff for the excellent process and <br /> thanked the Housing and Human Concerns Committee for their hard work.
