MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Mayor Gasparini presented an award of excellence on behalf of the City of Redwood <br /> City from the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors to Councilwoman Howard, <br /> Chairperson for the Childcare Advisory Committee. Councilwoman Howard thanked <br /> Mayor Gasparini and stated that the plaque was given to Redwood City for its <br /> dedication to children's issues during the Year of the Child. Redwood City has set a <br /> track record in the community for having the only Child Coordinator in the County. <br /> Kristen Anderson is the Child Care Coordinator and heads a Child Care Advisory <br /> group to address children's issues. She discussed the LaBerge fund chaired by <br /> Councilwoman LaBerge, the fund offers grants to Child Care groups in the <br /> community and the City School Liaison Committee which is consists of <br /> Councilwoman LaBerge as Chairperson and Councilmembers Harnett and <br /> Howard. Councilwoman Howard stated she is proud of what Redwood City does for <br /> children and thanked San Mateo County for the award. <br /> B. Councilwoman Steinfeld thanked people for participating in the bone marrow drive <br /> last weekend for Adrian Sandoval.
