To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City ManagerI <br /> <br />April 22, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Purchase of One Parking Enforcement Vehicle <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />By motion, authorize the purchase of one parking enforcement vehicle in the amount of <br />$25,584.13 from Municipal Maintenance Equipment of Sacramento, California under the <br />cooperative purchase provision of the City of Merced's competitive bid, purchase order <br />#056022. <br /> <br />Background <br />Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for <br />evaluating vehicles and equipment in order to replace them at the most economically <br />advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre-described intervals, vehicles and equipment <br />undergo a thorough evaluation including, but not limited to; age, mileage, condition, <br />maintenance history, downtime, anticipated f..,:ure r~: airs, usage and vehicle capabilities. <br /> <br />Currently, the Police Departments seven-year old parking enforcement vehicle meets the <br />fleet replacement criteria for this type of equipment. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />The alternative of going out to bid would probably not result in any cost savings, since the <br />City of Merced's bid was a recent competitive bid process in which Municipal Maintenance <br />Equipment was the lowest responsible bidder. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Funds for the purchase of this replacement enforcement vehicle was approved and <br />appropriated by the City Council in the FY 2002/03 Equipment Replacement Fund budget <br />in the amount of $26,700. <br /> <br />~'~ rry/~rwacz ~ Peter Ingram Ed <br />PublldWorks Superintendent Public Works Services Director City Manager <br /> <br />Attachment: None <br /> <br /> <br />
