REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> <br /> April 22, 2002 <br /> <br /> Subject <br /> Surplus Property <br /> <br /> Recommendation <br /> Approve a resolution declaring the property on the attached list surplus. <br /> <br /> Background <br /> The Public Works Services Department, in coordination with the Finance Department, acts <br /> as the centralized collection and storage point for City personal property, either worn out <br /> and/or surplus for various City departments. <br /> <br /> Government Code Section 37351 and Section 3-1/2 of the Charter of the City of Redwood <br /> City as amended, permits the sale of any City personal property having an appraised value <br /> of five thousand dollars or less without public notice or public bid for any reasonable <br /> amount, irrespective of its appraised value. It also allows the City to dispose of surplus <br /> property no longer required or needee for present, prospective municipal or public purpose <br /> without sale. <br /> <br /> Alternative <br /> Continue collecting and storing all the City's surplus property, however this property is <br /> taking up valuable space. <br /> <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> The revenue from this surplus property will be returned to the Equipment Replacement <br /> Fund and General Fund. <br />L(~a ~Ba'rwacz~~ Peter ingramYN~-/~ Edf~ <br /> Public Works Superintendent Public Works Services Director City Manager <br /> <br /> Attachment: 1.
