IREPOR. ~o the Honorable Mayor and ,C.,ity Council <br />T <br /> From the CIty Manager <br /> <br /> EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br /> <br />April 22, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Appeal of a permit application for a large family day care home at 1232 Maxwell Lane. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Uphold the decision of the Zoning Administrator to approve the permit application with the <br />seven conditions that were made part of the Notice of Official Action and based on the <br />following considerations: <br /> <br />Issue <br />This appeal represents a conflict between an existing small family day care home provider <br />proposing to expand to a large family day care home and a group of neighbors (who all <br />reside on the same cul-de-sac as the applicant) requesting that the existing facility remain a <br />small family day care home. The neighbors' concerns involve traffic, parking, noise and <br />quality of life. The applicant is requesting that her proposed expansion be granted because <br />she has demonstrated compliance to all the applicable State and local codes. In addition, <br />she will provide needed quality child care services to the community from her place of <br />residence. <br /> <br /> <br />
