5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Presentation - Update on Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) for . <br /> San Mateo County - Carole Groom, President, San Mateo County Board <br /> of Supervisors and Jim Eggemeyer, Director of the Office of <br /> Sustainability, San Mateo County <br /> Carole Groom, President of the San Mateo Board of Supervisors, introduced Jim <br /> Eggemeyer, the Chief Coordinator for this project. She stated that all 20 cities in the <br /> county have agreed to participate in the CCA. She noted that the load data request <br /> sent to PGE will likely be received in June at which time the technical study can begin, <br /> which will be completed in August. The decision to form a CCA will take place after that <br /> study is completed. Mayor Gee asked Ms. Groom to explain was CCA means. <br /> Ms. Groom stated that CCA stands for Community Choice Aggregation, which concerns <br /> the creation of a county-wide organization which will deliver more renewable service to <br /> customers. She noted that residents' bills will still be issued by PGE, but more solar, <br /> wind, and other environmentally conscious power sources will be provided. Mayor Gee <br /> noted that the CCA Advisory Committee will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month <br /> from 7-9 pm for approximately 16 months. <br /> B. Presentation - Redwood City Water Conservation -Terence Kyaw, <br /> Assistant Public Works Director <br /> Terence Kyaw updated the Council on the drought condition and solutions. He noted <br /> that the snow level for this year was the lowest in 50 years and water usage in 2015 has <br /> increased because of the lack of rain and higher temperatures. He spoke about <br /> mandatory reductions and other water restrictions (presentation on file). <br /> Council Member Bain encouraged residents to take advantage of the rain barrel rebate <br /> program and he appreciates the recycled water program for residents. Council Member <br /> Pierce spoke about the Bay Area Water Supply Conservation Agency meeting that she <br /> attended, noting that while people are allowed to water twice a week, they should still be <br /> careful and judicious. Council Member Seybert asked about the San Francisco Public <br /> Utilities Commission allocation. <br /> Mr. Kyaw stated that the City is allowed 13-thousand acre feet per year and are <br /> currently using 9-thousand acre feet per year. <br /> Council Member Seybert noted that there have been tremendous conservation efforts <br /> but people still need to continue to preserve water. He spoke about the Recycled Water <br /> Fill Station Program and thanked Staff for working on it and helping it function. Council <br /> Member Aguirre noted that she and the Mayor were at the League of CA Cities policy <br /> committee meeting and there was a presentation on mandatory water restrictions.
