5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Recognition of Alberto Hidalgo-Robert (Redwood City author) - Jeffrey <br /> Gee, Mayor <br /> Mayor Gee announced that unfortunately Mr. Hidalgo-Robert was unable to come this <br /> evening due to unforeseen circumstances. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> David McCallum spoke about how he and other residents have been cleaning the creek <br /> for many years and they cleared 2,500 pounds of garbage from the creek during their <br /> "Romancing the Creek" event in February. He also spoke an upcoming event on May <br /> 2"d Opening Day South Bay event. <br /> Ernie Schmidt, Planning Commissioner, introduced representatives of the LEMO <br /> (�iahona Motu) Foundation, a local nonprofit that works with at-risk youth. Ali Tyson <br /> Taufoou, Co-Founder and Director of Education of LEMO, provided more information on <br /> what they do, their accomplishments, and she invited everyone to view their website at <br /> www.LEMOFoundation.org and visit their home in Redwood City. She also introduced <br /> a "playmaker", Lalika Dow, who has been involved with the Foundation, and she spoke <br /> about her experience with the organization. The representatives spoke about an event <br /> on May 23�d called Mona Lisa at the Fox Forum. <br /> Council Member Howard asked if information on the LEMO Foundation fundraiser could <br /> be sent to the City Clerk to add to the Council's event calendar and Mayor Gee agreed <br /> adding that it could be added to an e-blast. <br /> Stephen Greenwood spoke about his concern regarding increased traffic and <br /> dangerous speeding on a portion of Edgewood Road. He asked the City to extend <br /> speed reduction measures further along the road to protect pedestrians and bicyclists. <br /> Diana Reddy, representing the Housing Leadership Council, noted that May 2-9, 2015 <br /> is Affordable Housing Week. She extended an invitation to the Council and community <br /> to participate in a number of activities commemorating during such week. <br /> 7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> CITY COUNCIL: Waive reading of the consent calendar and the full text of ordinances <br /> and resolutions, and approve the Consent Calendar items. <br /> M/S Aguirre/Foust to approve the Consent Calendar as submitted. Motion carried by <br /> unanimous electronic vote 7-0. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust spoke to item 7.1 B to thank colleagues supporting her request for the <br /> letter for the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority and noted that she has served on <br /> this Board for years as one of the original members to work on mechanism for <br /> restoration projects. She will bring back more information in the future. <br /> 1.
