10/26/2015
ORIGINAL
ORDINANCE NO. 2416
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD
CITY AMENDING SECTION 20.96 OF DIVISION 1 OF ARTICLE VII OF
CHAPTER 20 OF THE CITY CODE OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO
PARKING
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council adopts the following findings:
A. The City of Redwood City completed a parking study in 2013 which made
recommendations to improve the operation and management of the parking program so
that it better meets the changing needs of downtown activities and businesses; and
B. The 2013 Parking Study found that 76% of vehicles parked on-street stayed for
less than two hours, while 9% stayed for six or more hours; and
C. Instituting a two-hour time limit along Broadway will prioritize short-term parkers
in this commercial corridor by accommodating the majority of Downtown parkers while
discouraging long-term parking; and
D. This ordinance is adopted in accordance with Chapter 9 (STOPPING,
STANDING, AND PARKING) of Division 11 of the California Vehicle Code.
Section 2. The Redwood City Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown in
the following Sections by adding the text shown in underlined italics (example) and
deleting the text shown in strikeout (ea+ple).
