B. Council Member Hartnett — stated that as a part of the recycled water program, <br />new turf is being installed in certain parks, including Red Morton Park. He further <br />stated that a request was received from youth field users about placing grass on <br />the infield of the McGarvey Field. Hartnett stated that he had forwarded to staff the <br />request, asking if when Red Morton is considered for turf, that the dirt area of <br />McGarvey be considered as well. <br />C. City Manager Everett — stated that Jefferson Avenue and Broadway would be <br />closed between midnight Thursday, June 17 and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 18 for <br />a major cement pour. After 4:00 p.m. a one -way eastbound lane would be open. <br />Press releases and flyers have been disseminated about this traffic situation. <br />D. Vice Mayor Pierce - requested the Mayor Ira send a letter of support for AB 2690 <br />(Hancock) pertaining to payment of prevailing wages on public works in relation to <br />volunteer work. <br />9. ADJOURNMENT — 9:16 p.m. <br />Hartnett/Foust to adjourn to Closed Session in memory of Virginia Ball and Florence <br />Tiedemann. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. (206) <br />Virginia Ball served for 30 years in banking, worked tirelessly for the Redwood City <br />community, received numerous commendations, served on the Civic Cultural <br />Commission and is best remembered for her spirit of Christmas that led to her <br />spearheading, "Tis the Season ". <br />Florence Tiedemann, former Finance Department employee from 1976 -1993, working <br />in the Sheriff's Department prior to that as a "matron" in the women's jail. She was a <br />lifelong resident of Redwood City and a Sequoia High School alumni. Florence made <br />a generous donation to the City to finance the gazebo at the Veteran's Memorial <br />Center. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Patricia S.
