<br /> 7. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. SAMCEDA - Oral Report on Economic Development (205) <br /> Denise de Ville, President and CEO of SAMCEDA, presented a comprehensive report <br /> detailing the efforts and accomplishments of SAMCEDA, specifically the first year <br /> activities of the countywide economic development program, and the plans for the second <br /> year. Ms. de Ville described the collaborative partnerships formed this past year, the <br /> Oversight and Policy groups, the San Mateo County Blueprint, Information and <br /> Networking, Business Retention, Expansion and Attraction surveys and programs, <br /> Advocacy efforts, communications and marketing strategies, small business development <br /> centers, business incubators and international trade as critical to long term economic <br /> vitality. <br /> In response to Council Members questions, Ms. de Ville described the partnerships and <br /> sharing of information within the economic development communities, and described the <br /> Stakeholders Meeting of July 12, 1995, which will be attended by Mayor Gasparini. <br /> MEMO 6/27/95 <br /> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> B. Councilman Sanfilipo thanked everyone for their prayers and expressions of condolences <br /> in memory of his mother, Angelina Sanfilipo, who passed away on June 4, 1995. <br /> Councilman Sanfilipo also thanked the City Council of Daly City for adjourning its <br /> Meeting in Mrs. Sanfilipo's memory. <br /> MEMO 6/27/95 <br /> C. Councilwoman Buchan announced that the San Jose Mercury News was planning an <br /> article Wednesday, June 28, 1995, highlighting Redwood City's beautiful and newly <br /> completed low income housing development, Wyndham Place. <br /> D. Mayor Gasparini announced that on Thursday, June 29, 1995, the first class of the <br /> Citizens Police Academy will be graduating, and invited everyone to attend. Mayor <br /> Gasparini thanked Police Officer Ray Fowler and Chief Bolanos for their extra efforts on <br /> behalf of this program. <br /> E.
