MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST A The Town of Woodside's affordable housing location and Council's direction to staff regarding this matter. (Councilman Claire) (301-08) Councilman Claire discussed the Town of Woodside's affordable housing location project and its impact on Redwood City. The 5 acre site is located near the Farm Hill Blvd. intersection and Woodhill Estates. Councilman Claire requested that staff keep Council up to date on this matter. MEMO 5/24/94 B. Proposed housing projects and Redwood Shores/Redwood City's affordable housing goals. Discussion and clarification. (Councilman Greenalch) (203-04, 201-05) Councilman Greenalch discussed: the importance of keeping policy decisions made by Council in the forefront of staff and commissions as they review plans; the Planning Commission is currently looking at a number of plans; and the increase in building in Redwood Shores area. Councilman Greenalch asked whether an inclusionary zoning ordinance or an in lieu fee ordinance is necessary to compel compliance on the part of the development community. Planning Director Patterson responded affirmatively, if you wish to get low and very low income units. Councilman Greenalch discussed appropriate forms of subsidies for low income and policies issues. After further discussion Council requested that this issue be referred to the Housing and Human Concern Committee (and Planning Commission) for additional information. MEMO 5/24/94 9.
