<br /> REPORT: City Engineer, May 23, 1994, May 17, 1994, and June 1,1994 <br /> i <br /> City Engineer Luck spoke about funding, contaminated material costs, landscaping <br /> easements, railroad right of way, parking and traffic flow. <br /> Project and Systems Engineer Brian Lee thanked members of the task force which <br /> included Council Members Gasparini and Sanfilipo. Mr. Lee discussed damaged soil and <br /> ground water contamination and the need for further studies. <br /> Principal and Vice President of Brian Kangas Foulk David De VelIe discussed <br /> aesthetic concerns and issues, functional aspects of the underpass and technical issues <br /> regarding space and guidelines for a detour plan, utility relocation and landscape options.. <br /> In response to question from Councilman Claire Mr. LaVelle indicated that a traffic <br /> signal will be installed at the MainlMaple intersection. - <br /> Councilwoman Steinfeld asked about ADA compliance, slope requirements and <br /> accessibility for non motorized wheelchair users. Mr. LaVelle indicated that the maximum <br /> ADA gradient is 8.6%. Landing areas may be incorporated in the plan. <br /> Mayor Buchan emphasized the importance of working with properties owners at each <br /> step of the way. <br /> Several Council Members expressed preference for more landscaping rather than less. <br /> Councilwoman Gasparini suggested that the Pride and Beautification Committee could <br /> be used as a resource for landscaping. <br /> DES Architect Tom Gilman discussed the aesthetic character of the property and <br /> presented a sample model of the project. <br /> In response to question from Councilwoman Gasparini, Mr. Gilman indicated that there <br /> would be a safety railing along the walkway. . <br /> Councilwoman Steinfeld, asked about change orders and traffic flow.
