Additionally, all police agencies within San Mateo County utilize Sun Ridge software.
The universal usage throughout the County provides for seamless information sharing
and connectivity, which would not otherwise be possible with disparate computer aided
dispatch or records management systems. All County agencies are satisfied with the
software system, as well as the annual upgrades and support provided by Sun Ridge
Systems, Inc. Likewise, Redwood City Police Department personnel are satisfied with
the product and support provided by Sun Ridge Systems, Inc. As a result, there are no
plans to deviate from the use of the system for the foreseeable future.
City Council authorization of payment to Sun Ridge for the current annual service and
maintenance invoice, totaling $70,059, will ensure continued functionality and support of
this vital system.
Police Department personnel are currently crafting a multi-year service agreement with
Sun Ridge to collectively address software upgrades, maintenance and service beyond
February 2016. Once the agreement has been negotiated, Staff will obtain City Council
approval.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council could choose to not approve the payment of the Sun Ridge Systems, Inc.’s
annual service agreement invoice. However, this would negatively impact the Police
Department’s ability to use this service and severely hinder police operations.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Central Dispatching Services Fund has allocated $70,059 to pay this invoice.
Approval of this expenditure will have no increase or fiscal impact to the City.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under CEQA as defined in the CEQA Guidelines, section
15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or foreseeable physical
change in the environment.

JACQUELINE PACE
COMMUNICATIONS SUPERVISOR

JR GAMEZ
CHIEF OF POLICE
6.1.F. - Page 2
