at the October 11, 2013 SFPUC project review meeting. The SFPUC review panel
requested several modifications to the plan such as wider, load-bearing pathways to
accommodate maintenance vehicles, 6” spread anchors (rather than typical 18” deep
footings) and easily moveable, modular seat walls and site furniture. Subsequently, a
revised plan was submitted to the panel on January 22, 2014; the panel requested
further changes. Soon after, the SFPUC announced that the project was suspended to
allow time for the development of new guidelines.
Accordingly, the City presented a third revision on December 5, 2014. The plan was
rejected by the SFPUC because of an additional pipe in the right-of-way. Consequently,
the City was required to adhere to the new September 8, 2014 Draft Recreational Use
Policy for the SFPUC Water Pipeline Right of Way in San Mateo County.
Thus, a new design was presented to SFPUC on July 29, 2015. It was approved. To
complete the new design, the project requires additional funding.
The project is scheduled for bidding during the Spring of 2016.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to approve Amendment No. 1 in the amount of $23,250.00.

FISCAL IMPACT
The amendment would increase the agreement by $23,250.00, from $40,480.00 to
$63,730.00. Design funds for Linden Park have been previously appropriated in the
Park Impact Fees Fund, which has $597,250.62 available as of January 4, 2016.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that the Linden Park
Renovation Project meets the CEQA exemption criteria as set forth in Section 15303
“New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures” and Section 15304 “Minor
Alterations to Land”.

CLAUDIA OLALLA, ASLA
LANDSCAPE DESIGNER

CHRIS BETH
PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES
DIRECTOR

6.1.D. - Page 2
