RESOLUTION NO. 12333 V ACA TING PUBLIC UTILITY EASEMENT BEING A
PORTION LOCATED WITHIN LOT 6 BLOCK 2 OF VALOTA MANOR SUBDIVISION
IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH PART 3 OF DIVISION 9,
STREETS AND HIGHWAYS CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS ROLL CALL VOTE.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST
A. Report on Current Bond Indebtedness of City and Redevelopment Agency -
Councilman Greenalch (408-08, 1402-07)
REPORTS: Finance Director, September 12, 1994
Written Report from Councilman Greenalch
Following are excerpts and paragraph summaries from the report read by Councilman
Greenalch at the meeting. The full report is on file in the City Clerk Department.
Councilman Greenalch began by thanking the staffs of the Finance and City Clerk
Departments and stating "I am sorry that I had to ask them to take time from their other
responsibilities to assemble the materials."
"...On more than one occasion the assertion has been made by a citizen who is also
running for city council that the debt of the citizens of Redwood City has been tripled and
not one penny of that debt has been used to increase the number of police officers in the
city. The same person has also alleged that eighteen million dollars has been wasted.
While I recognize that license is given to individuals who are conducting a campaign for
public office, I do not think that anyone has the right to present incorrect and incomplete
information to the citizens of Redwood City. I also think that no one has a right to lead
people in a community to think that I, or any other elected or appointed official in
Redwood City, is willing to compromise the safety of our citizens.
"...these remarks are obviously my own and I accept complete responsibility for them. ...1
feel a special responsibility to defend the action of prior council members and city staff
who are no longer here to defend their good names. None of them has asked me to but I
could not leave this council in eight weeks and live with myself if I did not speak out
against the inaccuracies and misleading information on the important issues of public debt
and public safety.
"Let me address the assertion about the tripling of the public debt. This statement is flat
out wrong."
MINUTE BOOK NO. 52
Regular Meeting Minutes Page No. 385
September 12, 1994
Page 7
-.-" ,.-..--"..."..-.,-- .
