Request from the Redwood City Senior League/Little League Baseball for the City Council to write a letter on their behalf to Canada College concerning charges for field use - Vice Mayor Claire Vice Mayor Claire provided background on the Redwood City Senior League, ages 13 to 18, which is chartered by Little League. Vice Mayor Claire advised that currently, there are over 200 players using the City's McGarvey field, Sequoia High, Woodside High and Canada College fields. Vice Mayor Claire stated that the Redwood City Senior League Board of Directors has been notified by Canada College that commencing next season the League would be charged a minimum of $35 per hour for use of the Canada baseball field. The League has advised Vice Mayor Claire that they could not afford to pay a fee for field use, but removing Canada's field would place an undue burden on the three remaining fields. Vice Mayor Claire advised that during the past drought, the City responded to the request of Canada College to increase its water allotment so the fields could survive, and the Senior League came to the Council and argued on Canada's behalf. Also, Canada College uses the former Redwood City 4ger building 15 hours per week for their adaptive P .E. classes, for free. Vice Mayor Claire stated that if Canada imposed a fee for use of their fields, the Senior League would come to the Council for assistance. At that time the Council would have to look for available funds and would have to review the cost to the City of Canada's use of City facilities. Vice Mayor Claire stated that in this situation, public agencies charging each other for use of each other's facilities did not make sense.
