This Council Member went into detail about his personal <br /> experience with safety in this area and lack thereof. He supports trying out this pilot <br /> because he wants to improve safety and hopes this will decrease speeds. <br /> Mayor Gee said he spoke with Vice Mayor Foust today and she is supportive of the pilot <br /> program. Mayor Gee said that there is an issue here and the Council is aware of and <br /> concerned that drivers do not respect stop signs and speed limits. He said Council <br /> postponed taking action on Farm Hill for more community input and because PG&E had <br /> a project in the works and now we are ready to move forward. He said the City <br /> Manager and staff have worked with Canada College President Buckley to orient <br /> students and help them understand the importance of driving safely. Mayor Gee <br /> believes something needs to be done here and the metrics will also show the results. <br /> Mayor Gee believes the City Council does reverse decisions like the move of Stop signs <br /> approved on the Consent Calendar tonight. <br /> M/S Bain/Seybert to approve staff recommendation #3 and report back at the end of the <br /> evaluation. Motion carried 5-0 by electronic vote with Council Member Pierce <br /> recused and abstained and Vice Mayor Foust absent. <br /> Council Member Pierce rejoined the Council at the dais. <br /> Mayor Gee said this is not unique to Farm Hill and he has received many emails <br /> regarding lack of respect for rules and drivers not paying attention and he appealed to <br /> everyone to drive safely and be cautious and courteous. He would like us all to be <br /> responsible and slow down and make Redwood City a safe community. <br /> 10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> Mayor Gee congratulated Council Member Seybert on being elected Chairman of the <br /> Silicon Valley Clean Water. Mayor Gee also reported on receiving a notification this <br /> afternoon from the League of California Cities announcing various awards that <br /> Redwood City received because of its Wealth and Wellness Goals. He congratulated <br /> Chris Beth, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director, on all his work <br /> towards receiving these awards. <br /> Mayor Gee attended the 2"d Slovenia Gala last night at the Sofitel Hotel and he was <br /> pleased to meet the Ambassador to Slovenia in the US. At this event Congresswoman <br /> Anna Eshoo and Assembly Member Gordon were honored. <br /> C. Acting City Manager (Oral) Update — None <br /> D.
