EXHIBIT A <br /> <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> COMMUNITY EDUCATION CENTER <br /> FISCAL YEAR 2001/2002 <br /> <br /> CONTRACT OBJECTIVES <br /> <br />1. To provide a quality preschool experience to at least 25 four year-old children and their families <br /> residing in Redwood City, which will lay a foundation for them to be successful in school and the <br /> community. <br /> <br />2. Provide support services to the families of the children enrolled which will enhance their <br /> introduction into the Redwood City community and provide a crucial link between school and <br /> home by: <br /> <br /> A. Requiring parents participation in the classroom with a 3-hour minimum per month <br /> B. Referring clients to Social Services and other professionals as needed <br /> C. Provide a forum for at least 7 community meetings, including monthly parent society <br /> meetings, parent education seminars, safety and violence intervention workshops; <br /> along with offering a "mini-conference" for a more vaded amount of information in a <br /> one day seminar forum (childcare, lunch and entertainment provided) Including but <br /> not limited to: <br /> <br /> Discipline <br /> Child Development <br /> Budgeting <br /> Safety/violence Prevention <br /> Lead Poisoning Prevention <br /> CPR and First Aid <br /> Health and Nutrition <br /> ,, <br /> Family Activities <br /> Child Abuse <br /> Appropriate toys and materials for children <br /> <br />3. Perform one informational parent surveys to collect information in order to facilitate providing <br /> necessary information and education to our preschool children and their families. Integrate <br /> expertise and cultural perspectives of different community and family members into the <br /> curriculum by parent/community participation in daily activities planned in the classroom. <br /> <br /> 3. Provide opportunities for staff development that will keep the staff currents with trends in Early <br /> Childhood Education by conducting or funding one staff workshops/conferences per year where <br /> all eleven staff members will be required to attend. Provide the opportunity to attend <br /> professional conferences to enhance interest and develop professional integrity. Tuition and <br /> book fee reimbursement for all staff obtaining required California Child Development Permits and <br /> Degrees in Child Development. <br /> <br /> <br />
