Association Director Britschgi developed a proposal which was revised <br /> several times and is now finalized: <br /> THE FOX THEATRE TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> 1. Peninsula Center Stage, working in conjunction with the Historical <br /> Resources Advisory Committee, will start the process to determine if the <br /> Fox Theatre can be designated a state/or federal historic theatre. Fees <br /> for this, not to exceed $2,000, will be paid by the City. <br /> 2. The City will provide the Civic Cultural Commission with $15,000 to <br /> support three community cultural events at the Fox to be presented within <br /> a 12-month period. <br /> 3. Peninsula Center Stage will produce three productions at the Fox <br /> within a 12-month period with a grant from the City of $30,000. <br /> 4. A clear written agreement between Peninsula Center Stage and the City <br /> outlining in full the responsibilities of each will be developed. <br /> 5. This task force will provide an evaluation of the above plan at the <br /> end of twelve months. <br /> 6. The marquee will be repaired with the City Facade Improvement Program <br /> providing one half of the cost and the Downtown Association will solicit <br /> donations for the other half. <br /> 7. Peninsula Center Stage will place displays in all ten of the front <br /> windows. <br /> 8. A study session will be held with the City Council of Redwood City and <br /> the Civic Cultural Commission to consider the above and to facilitate <br /> community involvement. <br /> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 2. TASK FORCE REPORTS <br /> A. Representative from the Historic Resources Advisory Committee <br /> Historic Resources Advisory Committee Chairman Ken Rolandelli presented <br /> the historic perspective of the Fox Theatre stressing the importance of <br /> its designation by the City as a local historic landmark, and the <br /> importance of seeking National Register status.
