Sue Cortopassi, Sequoia YMCA, 'wofRêd in Chico Recreation Department Chuck Ashton, Children's Librarian Edna Acri, Resource Specialist, Redwood City Elementary School District Kristen Anderson presented a summary of the survey stating it brought to light areas of concern and suggestions for all kinds of youth services as well as highlighting the desire for a teen center, a safe place to hang out with friends and to meet new friends. The survey also showed that the teens want to plan the teen center themselves with a minimal amount of adult assistance; teens want more music programs in the City; and they also believe that other organizations can stage successful teen events, including their schools, churches, and businesses. Mayor La Berge thanked the teen members of the Committee and everyone who worked on the survey for their hard work and insight into the needs and wishes of Redwood City youth. M/S: CLAIRE/BUCHAN TO EXPLORE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A STANDING COMMITTEE, A YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE, AND TO COME BACK TO COUNCIL IN TWO TO THREE MONTHS WITH A SOLID RECOMMENDATION. Councilman Claire advised he wished to serve on the committee to explore the establishment of a youth advisory committee. MOTION CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE.
