<br /> Acting General Services Direêtôr Tâylor described the FY 1992/93 proposed <br /> budget with only a 3.2% increase over 1991/92, the General Services <br /> Department reorganization, the elimination of one department, and the <br /> increase in the cost of water from the San Francisco Water Department <br /> which has tripled in the past three years. Park, Recreation and Community Services Budget FY 1992/93 <br /> Director Griffiths described the 1992/93 budget with only a 2.58% <br /> increase over 1991/92, and the changes and/or new additions to the <br /> maintenance custodians division, building maintenance, a new human <br /> services specialist at the Fair Oaks Community Center, administrative <br /> professional services, and casual hours for supervision at Red Morton <br /> Recreation Center. <br /> Recreation Supervisor Centeno described the need to add $6742 to the <br /> half-time position of Child Care Coordinator for a total of $27,042, to <br /> cover the loss of an inadvertent subsidy provided by the Child Care <br /> Coordinating Council. <br /> Karen Peterson, Sequoia Infant Toddler Center, Redwood City, described <br /> the services provided by the Child Care Coordinator and its positive <br /> impact on Redwood City children. <br /> Supervisor Centeno advised that staff is seeking sponsorship for <br /> programs for children and teens, and envisions working with other groups <br /> such as schools and the YMCA to share costs and services and to reach as <br /> many children in the community as possible. <br /> Council Members Buchan and Claire advised that 20 hours per week was not <br /> enough for the Child Care Coordinator to seek additional funding, work on <br /> programs and with children, and implement the model Redwood City Child <br /> Care policy. <br /> Virgil Gleason, 318 Poplar, Redwood City, and Katherine Coughlan, 831 <br /> Anamor, spoke in favor of increasing the hours of the Child Care <br /> Coordinator. <br /> Adj.
