WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS
A. Letter from Sharyl Casey regarding R. C. Mobile Home Park (301-25)
City Manager Everett provided an overview of the situation and conditions at
the Redwood City Mobile Home Park and advised Council that letters had been
sent to the property owners and the Housing and Community Development in
Sacramento with a copy to Ms. Casey, and that the State and the City had
inspected the Park.
Sharyl Casey thanked the City Manager for his efforts and advised Council
that the state inspectors as well as city inspectors had inspected the
mobile home park and issued citations. Ms. Casey advised that management is
trying to force out older mobile homes, and the older tenants on fixed
incomes cannot afford to move. Ms. Casey advised that some tenants are too
afraid to sign complaints against management, and management has advised
every dollar spent to repair violations will be borne by the tenants. Ms.
Casey stated nothing has been done to correct violations to this date.
Council Members asked staff to provide further information on violations and
citations by the state and Redwood City. City Attorney Schricker suggested
that Ms. Casey carefully chronicle responses by owners and advised that
retaliation by management against complainants was unacceptable. Councilman
Bury suggested contacting special districts such as Mosquito Abatement
District and asking for their assistance in solving specific problems at the
Mobile Home Park.
MEMO 8/18/92
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regular Meeting Minutes
August 17, 1992 MINUTE BOOK NO. 51
Page 4 Page No. 167
,.. .._-,.. _... ..-
