Wash water may be <br /> picked up by the vacuum unit. <br /> • All vehicle speeds on unpaved roads shall be limited to 15 mph. <br /> • All roadways,driveways, and sidewalks to be paved shall be completed as soon as <br /> possible. Foundations for the pump station,retaining walls,and pedestrian path shall be <br /> laid as soon as possible after grading unless seeding or soil binders are used. <br /> • Idling times shall be minimized either by shutting equipment off when not in use or by <br /> reducing the maximum idling time to 5 minutes, as required by the California airborne <br /> toxics control measure Title 13, Section 2485 of California Code of Regulations. Clear <br /> signage regarding idling time requirements shall be provided for construction workers at <br /> all access points. <br /> • All construction equipment shall be maintained and properly tuned in accordance with <br /> the manufacturer's specifications. All equipment shall be checked by a certified visible <br /> emissions evaluator. <br /> • The Contractor shall post a publicly visible sign with the telephone number and person <br /> to contact at the lead agency regarding dust complaints. This person shall respond and <br /> take corrective action within 48 hours. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District's <br /> phone number shall also be visible to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. <br /> Responsible Party: City of Redwood City oversight <br /> BIOLOGICAL RESOURCES <br /> Mitigation Measure BIO 1: Construction Scheduling <br /> The Contractor shall install a temporary cofferdam during low tide to reduce impacts to water <br /> quality and aquatic species. The Contractor shall schedule other construction actions to avoid <br /> effects to listed species and habitats,to the extent practical. <br /> Responsible Party: City of Redwood City oversight <br /> Mitigation Measure BIO 2: Pre-Construction Surveys and Buffers <br /> The City shall have a qualified biologist conduct pre-construction surveys for any endangered, <br /> special-status plant and animal species or migratory birds 72 hours prior to the commencement of <br /> pump station construction and again prior to the commencement of construction of the US 101 <br /> undercrossing project. If any migratory bird nests are detected, the City shall establish a buffer <br /> around the nest unless the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) approves alternative <br /> measures. Typically a 50-foot buffer shall be set around any passerine/or non-passerine nests,and a <br /> 250-foot buffer shall be set around any raptor nest. <br /> Responsible Party: City of Redwood City <br /> Mitigation Measure BIO 3: Pre-Construction Surveys for Roosting Bats <br /> The City shall have a qualified biologist conduct pre-construction surveys for any roosting bats prior <br /> to the commencement of any construction activities under or within 100 feet of US 101 and <br /> July 15,2013 A-2 US 101 Pedestrian Undercrossing and <br /> Bair Island Storm Water Pump Station Project <br />
