Proclamation - In Honor of Georgi LaBerge, Upon Her Retirement from <br /> ''� the Redwood City Library Foundation -Jeffrey Gee, Mayor <br /> Mayor Gee recognized Georgi LaBerge, a long-time community member for her work <br /> as a community leader and her work on the Library Foundation. Jill Rodby from Sims <br /> Metal Management presented Ms. LaBerge with a gift of gratitude. Ms. LaBerge spoke <br /> about her time in Redwood City. Council Members Howard, Bain, Aguirre, Pierce, and <br /> Seybert had words of gratitude and appreciation. Vice Mayor Foust and Mayor Gee <br /> also thanked her for her endless contributions. <br /> B. Swearing in of Boards, Commissions and Committees' Appointees — <br /> Silvia Vonderlinden, City Clerk <br /> Ms. Vonderlinden swore in Cary Zuk-Mielke to the Library Board, Linda Martinez to the <br /> Civic Cultural Commission, and Juan Pablo Lopez to the Parks and Recreation <br /> Commission. <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Diana Reddy, Redwood City Residents for Renter Protection, spoke about a database <br /> that she developed for multi-family properties purchased in the last 18 months. She stated <br /> that these properties represent 910 units of housing for thousands of residents in <br /> ,�--� Redwood City. She is checking with residents of these properties and there are reports <br /> in three buildings owned by the same landlord where residents are receiving $200 rent <br /> �. increases every three months. She spoke about examples where cities can protect <br /> renters. <br /> Lee Callister spoke about Docktown and how residents were able to speak to Council <br /> Members personally, and look forward to the release of the Inner Harbor Plan. He spoke <br /> about the obstacle of State Lands and stated that Docktown attorneys have written a white <br /> paper for the Commission and are ready to discuss why Docktown is compatible with the <br /> Public Trust doctrine. He stated that Docktown has been shown to pay for itself and even <br /> generate a profit. <br /> 6. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one <br /> motion and one vote. <br /> CITY COUNCIL: Waive reading of the consent calendar and the full text of ordinances <br /> and resolutions, and approve the Consent Calendar items. <br /> M/S Seybert/Aguirre to approve the Consent Calendar excluding item 6.1J pulled and <br /> moved and to be continued and agenda item 6.3B with revised documents. Motion <br /> carried by unanimous roll call vote. <br /> 1.
