Recognition of Mexican Mobile Consulate Volunteers and San Mateo <br /> Credit Union as Sponsor— Teri Chin, Human Services Manager <br /> ~ Mayor Gee introduced Teri Chin, Human Resources Manager who explained what <br /> programs and services the Mexican Mobile Consulate offered were about and shared <br /> some of the benefit. Mayor Gee issued certificates to the following Mexican Mobile <br /> Consulate volunteers and leaders: Joel Ayala,Antonia Ayala, Juliana Ayala, Leonardo <br /> Bravo, LucyAguilar,Angela Vazquez, Lupe Murillo, Maria Gonzalez, Estefania <br /> Camacho, Martha Ortega, Vicky Avila, Ivette Melendez, Tammie Pereira and Lupe <br /> Beruman. <br /> B. New City of Redwood City Website — Launch — Meghan Horrigan, <br /> Public Communications Manager <br /> Mayor Gee introduced Police Chief Gamez to explain the new functions of the Redwood <br /> City website. Chief Gamez and Meghan Horrigan, Public Communications Manager <br /> gave a presentation showcasing the design and layout of the new website and <br /> explained the process in working with community members, business owners and City <br /> staff in creating the website. Staff was very excited about this endeavor and Council <br /> appreciated the efforts and the look. <br /> C. Reopening of Hoover Pool and Recognition of the Partnership <br /> between the City, Abilities United, and the Sequoia YMCA— Chris Beth, Director, <br /> Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department <br /> Mayor Gee introduced Chris Beth, Director of Parks, Recreation and Community <br /> Services who explained how collaborations with members of the community allowed for <br /> the re-opening the Hoover Pool. Chris Beth introduced Charlie Weidanz, Director of <br /> Abilities United and Jennifer Winter-Hatch, Program Manager of Abilities United and <br /> Julie Westlock, Executive Director of Sequoia YMCA who were instrumental in this <br /> partnership. Mr. Weidanz, Ms. Winter-Hatch and Ms. Westlock explained the services <br /> their agencies provide and the assistance provided in re-opening Hoover Pool. <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Tom Linebarger spoke about rental prices in Redwood City and his concerns that if <br /> people are forced to leave their affordable housing due to the loss of rent stabilization <br /> they will also be unable to remain in the Bay Area due to high housing costs. <br /> Diana Reddy said she is concerned about the families that are being displaced <br /> throughout Redwood City and the appearance the empty buildings will provide to <br /> visitors to the city. <br /> Ardath McDermott said she and several of her neighbors are being evicted and <br /> explained her concerns with residents being forced to leave the communities they have <br /> lived in for many years. <br /> 6.
