Courthouse S�quare Easement <br /> Background-This property consists of easement interests in property that is owned by the County of <br /> San Mateo.The public facility consists of the courthouse building and a large public plaza (Courthouse <br /> Square).The building is now used as a public museum. In 2005 the County and the City entered into a <br /> Cooperative Agreement whereby the County granted an easement in Courthouse Square to the City for <br /> the City to renovate,maintain,and use solely as a public plaza available for use by all County residents. <br /> In 2007 the City and its former redevelopment agency entered into a Partial Assignment and <br /> Assumption Agreement whereby the City assigned a portion of its easement interest in Courthouse <br /> Square to the agency for concession purposes consistent with the public uses required pursuant to the <br /> City's agreement with the County. <br /> Acquisition Purpose-The original agreement with the County and the assignment agreement with <br /> the redevelopment agency allowed a public property in a central portion of the downtown area to be <br /> renovated for public use and events.The partial assignment allowed the agency to install vendor <br /> concession kiosks in support of these public activities.The County fee ownership of the square,and the <br /> easement restrictions for the use of the easement"solely as a public plaza"preclude any conveyance of <br /> the easement interest to a private party. <br /> Parcel Information <br /> TABLE #4— COURTHOUSE SQUARE EASEMENT IIVFORMATION <br /> ITEM PARCEL INFORMATION COMMENTS <br /> Parcel# 052-367-010 <br /> Address 2200 Broadway Street <br /> Lease Area 21,000 sq.ft.
