07/26/2004 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14596 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK OR HIS /HER <br />DESIGNEE TO ACCEPT GRANTS, DEEDS AND EASEMENTS ON <br />BEHALF OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AND RESCINDING <br />RESOLUTION NO. 10944 <br />WHEREAS, Section 27281 of the Government Code of the State of California <br />requires that deeds or grants conveying any interest in or easement upon real estate to <br />political corporations be accepted by the grantee prior to being recorded; and <br />WHEREAS, said Section 27281 provides a method whereby an officer or agent <br />may be authorized by the political corporation to accept such deeds or grants on its <br />behalf; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1988, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 10944 authorizing <br />the then City Clerk to accept grants or deeds on behalf of the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Clerk who was in office in 1988 no longer serves as City <br />Clerk. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. That the City Clerk or his /her designee is hereby authorized to accept all <br />deeds, grants and easements conveying an interest in or upon real estate on <br />behalf of the City of Redwood City. <br />2. That the acceptance of any grants, deeds or easements by City <br />representatives without the authority of Resolution No. 10944 is hereby <br />ratified. <br />3. That Resolution No. 10944, adopted December 5, 1988, is hereby rescinded. <br />4.
