7.A. - Page 37
2.5 Regional Water Rate Survey
Figure W1 shows a survey of monthly regional water bills for a typical single family home with
monthly water use of 8 hcf (approximately 200 gallons per day). Redwood City's rates are in the
lower-middle range compared to the other regional agencies. The monthly charge for a typical
single family home served by a 5/8-inch meter using 8 hundred cubic feet of water per month
(approximately 200 gallons per day) is currently $61.95. This equates to an all-in cost of
approximately $1.04 per each 100 gallons of water, and about $2.04 per day for a typical home.
Roughly two-thirds of single family residential water bills are at or below this level of use.
Figure W1: Survey of Monthly Single Family Residential Water Bills
Single Family Residential Monthly Water Rates
Based on 8 hcf monthly water use, base meter size (5/8" or 3/4")
$120
E Usage Charges* 107.12
$110 i Fixed Monthly Charges
$100 I 92.68
$90 - 8a.11 86.50
77.00 `'
$$0 72.99 T
III r1$70 66.'15 67.04 67.29 70.45 "n
58.60 61.95 M , ' r c, N
$60 "'
ca
N O
$50 52.76 I - 1 I 1 `61 1
$40 1%.
