<br /> The proclamation describing the long and distinguished career of retiring <br /> Fire Chief Peter O'Brien was read by Mayor La Berge with a special thank you <br /> from the Council for Chief O'Brien's outstanding service to Redwood City. <br /> Chief O'Brien thanked the CounGi~i~oD this recognition and introduced his <br /> wife and son, and Deputy Fire Chief Bud Yoakum and his wife. <br /> B. Recognition of retiring Park and Recreation Commissioner Jerritt Mortensen's <br /> twelve years of dedication to the City's parks and recreation programs. <br /> Mr. Mortensen could not attend, and Mayor La Berge advised the plaque would <br /> be delivered to his home. <br /> C. Proclaiming Heritage Week, October 4th through October 10th. <br /> Councilman Stangel advised he had read a copy of the proclamation to the <br /> Heritage Association at their annual dinner held on October 4, 1992, and the <br /> proclamation would be sent to them this week4 <br /> D. Proclaiming October 15, 1992 as White Cane Day in Redwood City and <br /> presentation of proclamation. <br /> Mayor La Berge announced that the proclamation had been sent to the White <br /> Cane Association. <br /> E. Proclamation declaring October 10, 1992 Christopher Columbus Quincentenary <br /> Celebration Day in Redwood City, sponsored by the United Lodges of San Mateo <br /> County, Order Sons of Italy in America. <br /> Vice Mayor Bury presented the proclamation declaring October 10, 1992 as <br /> Quincentenary Celebration Day in Redwood City to Armando Quaglia of the <br /> United Lodges of San Mateo County, Order Sons of Italy in America, who <br /> thanked the Council for the proclamation and the Awards of Appreciation to <br /> be presented to Brad Scheppler and Amanda Fabbro of Roy Cloud School for <br /> their essays on Christopher Columbus. <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 4.
