----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. PUBLIC HEARINGS
None
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST
A. Status Report on Field Maintenance Meetings
REPORT: Councilmember Claire, December 26, 1992
Councilmember Claire provided background on water allocation to Redwood City
sports fields, their maintenance, and the needs of Little League and other
teams who use Redwood City's parks and fields, and certain school fields as
well. Councilmember Claire advised that in the matter of Mitchell and
Kiwanis fields, there remained one last issue, a new restroom and concession
facility; and, since renovation of the fields carne in under budget, there
were funds at that time available to bring the restroom facility into
compliance with federal law. Councilman Claire stated he believed the City
had done a good job with the fields and that only budget limitations
constrain the City from doing more.
Councilwoman Steinfeld described the report soon to be presented to the
Council by the 504 Committee which will outline the facilities in the City
that are substandard and need updating to conform to UBC and ADA.
In response to Council direction, City Manager Everett advised that staff
would look into the matter of updating the restroom and concession
facilities to bring them into compliance with the law.
MEMO 1/12/93
B. Councilwoman Steinfeld advised that she would attend the Civic Liaison
Committee and the Sister City Committee meetings on January 12th and would
report back to Council on discussions and actions of the committees.
C. Mayor Buchan asked her colleagues to consider how the Council should
respond to legislators during the upcoming state budget sessions, and
advised that the League of California Cities is developing strategies for
all cities in California.
D. Councilman Claire reminded his colleagues of the League of California Cities
meeting on January 28th and urged everyone to attend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.
