Council Legislative Committee Report No. 93-1 (301-06) Councilman Claire, Chairman of the Council Legislative Committee, reported on the following two recommendations: 1) Expansion of Smoking Regulation Prohibitions Recommendation: That the City Council consider expanding the prohibition on smoking to include the entire dining area of restaurants. 2) Expansion of Regulation on Controlled Substances on or near School Property Recommendation: Include violations involving all controlled substances within the increased penalty provisions pertaining to school Zones." In response to Councilmembers questions, Councilmember Claire advised that the recommended no smoking prohibition applied to dining areas only, and that before any decision was made, the public and owners of businesses with dining areas would be invited to present their opinions and information to the Council.
