Presentation of proclamation '~F.a.i,r, Mousing Month, April, 1993" (301-04) <br /> Mayor Buchan read the proclamation and presented it to Matt Matteson, <br /> President of the Tri County Apartment Association, who thanked the Council <br /> for its support and introduced his colleague, Kathy Thibodeaux, Director of <br /> Governmental Relations of TCAA. <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> B. RIDES for Bay Area commuters recognizes CITY OF REDWOOD CITY as one of the <br /> 100 best employers for Bay Area commuters in 1993. (301-11) <br /> Ned Himmel, Library Program Supervisor and Redwood City Commuting <br /> Coordinator, presented the award given to Redwood City by RIDES for Bay Area <br /> Area Commuters recognizing the City of Redwood City as one of the 100 best <br /> employers for Bay Area commuters in 1993: "RIDES congratulates Redwood City <br /> for its outstanding contributions in promoting alternatives to driving <br /> alone, and helping to solve the Bay Area's traffic congestion, energy and <br /> air pollution problems." <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> A. The National Civic league has chosen Redwood City as a finalist for <br /> designation as an "All America City." (301-11) <br /> Human Resources Director Irizarry described the All America City program and <br /> and congratulated the Council, staff and citizens of Redwood City for <br /> receiving this honor. Director Irizarry named the three citizen/ <br /> partnership programs and their directors who earned Redwood City its <br /> finalist status: Andrew Frisch from Kainos; Leslie Hurdy from Sequoia <br /> Electronics Academy; and Kathy Endaya from Project Read. Mr. John Blakely, <br /> Regional Vice-President of Allstate Foundation congratulated Redwood City <br /> for being one of 30 finalists out of 150 entries, and announced that Kainos <br /> had earlier applied for a grant from the Foundation, and he was happy to <br /> announce that the grant had been approved. Mr. Blakely wished the City well <br /> in Tampa as it competes for the title of "All America City." <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> MAYOR BUCHAN DECLARED A RECESS OF THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING AT 8:06 P.M.
