BLIZNICK AND THE CITY MANAGER <br /> TO GO OVER FINANCIAL INCOMEIOUTGO OF THE PENINSULA CENTER STAGE AND MAKE A <br /> MORE INFORMED DECISION. <br /> Councilmembers discussed grants and the budget process. <br /> MOTION FAILED ON THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: <br /> AYES: COUNCILWOMAN STEINFELD <br /> NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS CLAIRE, GASPARINI, GREENALCH, LA BERGE, <br /> SANFILIPO AND MAYOR BUCHAN MINUTE ORDER NO. 93-105 <br /> Mayor Buchan opened the discussion to the public and called upon the people <br /> who had submitted speaker's request cards: <br /> Joe Steinfeld, Main Street merchant, spoke in favor of cultural events and <br /> PCS productions at the Fox, but asked that Council require a quid pro quo. <br /> Mr. Steinfeld stressed the fact that the Fox Theatre was underutilized. <br /> That last year the PCS used the Fox only nine weeks, no events were held <br /> during thirty-six weeks and during seven weeks only one event per week was <br /> held. <br /> The following people spoke in favor of approving both Civic Cultural <br /> Commission recommendations~ $10,000 for the December 1993 production, <br /> approval, in concept, for $30,000 for 1994. <br /> Pat Kelly, PCS supporter, Portola Valley; <br /> Dennis Licktei, Artistic Director, Peninsula Center Stage; <br /> Dottie White, Norman Street, Redwood City; <br /> Julia Faussone, Upland Road, Redwood City; <br /> David Fassone, Upland Road, Redwood City; <br /> Warren Dale, Carleton Court, Redwood City; <br /> Jeannie Watson, Chairman of the Board, PCS; <br /> Ernest Wuthmann, Task Force Member, Redwood City; <br /> Joan Jordan, Task Force Member, Redwood City; <br /> Loretta Thomas, Task Force Member, Redwood City; <br /> Walter Piulle, Glennan Way, Redwood City; <br /> Tamara Piulle, Glennan Way, Redwood City; <br /> Bob Bryant, Broadway merchant, Redwood City; <br /> M/S: CLAIREIGREENALCH TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> 1) PROVIDE $10,000 FROM FISCAL YEAR 92/93 FUNDS TO PENINSULA CENTER STAGE TO <br /> PERMIT THEM TO BEGIN PROMOTING THE NEXT PRODUCTION SEASON TO BEGIN IN <br /> DECEMBER, 1993; AND <br /> 2) SUPPORT IN CONCEPT THE GRANTING OF $30,000 FROM FISCAL YEAR 1993/94 FUNDS <br /> TO PENINSULA CENTER STAGE TO INDICATE THE CITY COUNCIL'S INTENT TO <br /> SUPPORT THE MOUNTING OF A FULL 3-SHOW SEASON TO RUN FROM MARCH 1994 <br /> THROUGH DECEMBER 1994, WITH APPROVAL OF FUNDING TO BE CONSIDERED DURING <br /> THE BUDGET PROCESS IN JUNE. <br /> Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> MINUTE BOOK NO. 51 May 24, 1993 <br /> Page No. 418 Page 6 <br /> . <br />
