NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Redwood City, State of California, will hold a Public <br />Hearing at the stated time and place to consider the following: <br /> <br /> Date: July 25, 2016 <br /> <br /> Time: 7:00 PM or as soon thereafter as the normal course of business permits <br /> <br /> Place: City Council Chambers, City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Avenue, Redwood City <br /> <br />Subject: Consideration of adopting an ordinance to create the Roosevelt Avenue Underground Utility <br />District 2016-1 <br /> <br />The purpose of the Roosevelt Avenue Underground Utility District No. 2016-1 is to require the removal of <br />poles, overhead wires and associated overhead utility and communication structures from any public streets, <br />alleys or ways within the District except high voltage wiring and poles; and to require the underground <br />installation of wires and facilities for supplying electric, communication, or similar or associated services, with <br />the exception of transformers and service pedestals normally installed above ground) from any streets, roads, <br />alleys or ways within the Proposed District and the requirement that all future wires and facilities for supplying <br />electric, communications, cable television, and /or similar services shall be installed underground. <br /> <br />The boundary map (Plat Map) and legal description for the District are available to be viewed at the City <br />Clerk’s Office located 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. <br /> <br />If the Ordinance is adopted and the District established, then It shall be unlawful for any person, including utility <br />companies, to erect, maintain or operate any pole, overhead wire or associated structure (with the exception of <br />transformers and service pedestals normally installed above ground) in any portion of the street, road, alley or <br />way within the District. <br /> <br />The City qualifies for reimbursement under California Public Utilities Commission Rule 20A from private utility <br />companies of a portion of the costs incurred by the City for undergrounding overhead utilities in the proposed <br />District. <br /> <br />Any objection must either be given in person at the time of the Public meeting or received in writing by the <br />Engineering Division prior to the date of the Public Hearing. Testimony cannot be given over the telephone.
