Howeverp it has been determined by the Engineering Department that any material change in the existing plan lines would prohibit a satisfactory solution to the existing traffic problem* Mr, Harold Wattenberg., representing purchaser of ptoperty at corner Whipple and El Camino Real., stated that speed was most urgent* His clients have a proposed buyer and this delay is not helping the situation as they can not lease the property with the proposed plan lines still not settled. He asked that acquisition action be taken or some action to let his clients know what the situation will be. Councilman Royer asked the Mayor to appoint a committee to check into the matter and meet with Mr. Wattenberg in an effort to see what they can figure out as to acquistion cost and also see what property could be given up by Mr. Wattenberg's clients and still not hurt use of the remaining property. Mayor Herkner appointed the Real Estate Committee and City Engineer to meet with Mr. Wattenberg and follow through on Cduncilman Royer's plan. This was followed by discussion in which Councilman Britschgi stated he didn't want to go on record approving the plan lines if they would ruin the property and he wanted the committee to take another look to make sure this would not happen. This was followed by discussion in regard to agreement with the peanut stand owner on severance damages an the addition to the old stand.
